Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre Takes Audiences To “The Prom”

Posted

Four fading Broadway stars are in desperate need of a new stage in “The Prom,” playing May 23 through June 15 at Annapolis Summer Garden Theater.

When the Broadway stars hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town Indiana prom — and the press is involved — they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue and themselves. The town’s parents want to keep the dance on the straight and narrow — but when one student just wants to bring her girlfriend to prom, the entire town has a date with destiny. Now, Broadway’s brassiest are coming to join the fight and they are ready to kick-ball-change the world.

The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre show is based on the book and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, book by Bob Martin and music by Matthew Sklar. David Merrill is the director and music director, Elysia Greene Merrill is the choreographer and assistant director, and Atticus Boidy is the stage manager and assistant director. Melody Volkman is serving as production manager and producer. The Merrills have put on several productions at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, and Boidy has directed numerous shows at Severna Park schools.

Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre is located at 143 Compromise Street in Annapolis. Please note, this show contains adult language. For tickets, call 410-268-9212 or visit summergarden.showare.com.
