Bats On Fire For Lake Shore 6U All Stars

The Lake Shore 6U All Star tournament team went 3-1 to take first place overall at the Linthicum Ferndale All Star Rec Tournament earlier this summer.

The team of Ayden Meadows, Austin Lawler, Brenden Smith, Bryce Thomas, Chase Diluca, Colt Wanner, Colten Kurz, Gavin O’Connor, Iverson Castillo, Stephen Regiec, Tyler Pellegrini, Aidin Smith and Grayson Duffy exploded for an astounding 81 runs in four games, including two wins over host Linthicum-Ferndale and one win over Baltimore Highlands.

Head coach Mike Lawler said Wanner and Castillo played extremely well manning first base, while Meadows did an excellent job on the pitcher’s mound. In the championship game, a 27-16 win over the hosts, Diluca and Lawler went 4 for 4, and Duffy and Smith went 3 for 3. Regiec, Pellegrini and Kurz all had three hits and multiple RBIs, and Smith had two hits and multiple RBIs.

Mike Lawler coached the team along with Jamie Wanner, Ron Smith and Jason Pellegrini and said the boys rebounded well from a 20-19 loss to Pasadena Baseball Club to come back and win the tournament.

“I cannot be more proud of this true team effort,” he said. “This group of young ball players flat out could hit the ball. … As a coach it’s tough to make a lineup when all your kids hit as well as this group. … Even after a tough loss to Pasadena, these boys never gave up and believed we could come back Sunday and [win the championship]… Everyone contributed to these victories on both the offensive and defensive side of the field. These boys played as a team, and when one didn’t perform, another one stepped up to pick up the pace.”
