Chesapeake Knocks Out Northeast 11-0, Earns Place In Friday’s Final

Chesapeake’s Haley Downin threw a three-hit shutout to blank Northeast, and the Cougar offense exploded for an 11-0 mercy-rule win over the Eagles to earn a spot in Friday’s 3A East region final.

Downin and Ali Pollack both hit homers for Chesapeake; Pollack’s two-run home run in the sixth ended the game. Downin added an RBI double and three runs scored, and Pollack had an RBI triple and three total RBIs. Kendall Thomas was 2 for 3. Jerzie Nutile had a three-run double. Tristyn Stewart had an RBI single. Sophia Bianco had an RBI double.

The Cougars host Reservoir at 4 p.m. on Friday in the 3A East region final.
