Chesapeake, Northeast Perform Well At County Track Championships

The Anne Arundel County Track and Field Championships were held at Annapolis High School on May 11, and several area schools had multiple standout performers. Both the Chesapeake boys and girls took second place overall in team scoring, and the Northeast boys and girls had top-12 finishes.

Each school had several individuals achieve top finishes in their respective events. For the Chesapeake girls, Ashley Reilly took county championship honors in pole vault with a vault of 9’6”, rounding out an excellent meet by taking third in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the 300m hurdles. Sarah Taylor took second place in pole vault. The Chesapeake girls owned the county long jump, as Morgan Cluster took first place with a measurement of 16’6.5”, Reilly took second with jump of 16’6.25”, and Masha Romanchak placed third with a jump of 16’3”.

Casey Smith took county championship honors in both shot put (33’8”) and discus (117’05”), out-throwing the discus runner-up by over 18 feet. Teammate Carly Blair finished ninth in discus.

Ajee Lomax finished eighth in the 400m run, with teammates Sydney LaMarsh taking ninth and Katie Booker eleventh. Nichole Forrester was sixth in the 800m, and Jennifer Reilly took ninth. Katelyn Rilee was seventh in the 1600m. Danielle Madero-Craven was seventh in the 3200m. Peyton Strain took sixth in the 300m hurdles.

The Chesapeake girls took fourth in the 4x100m relay, third in the 4x200m relay, fifith in the 4x400m relay, and third in the 4x800m relay.

For the Chesapeake boys, Drew Allam was a standout performer, taking championship honors in both shot put (47’02”) and discus (128’01”). Teammate Jake Sanner also had an excellent meet, taking second place in both shot put and discus, and Tyler Blankenship also had a top-ten finish in shot put.

Tom Clemson took third in high jump and eighth in long jump. In pole vault, the Cougars had a great showing, as Brennan Hardesty took second place, and teammates Cole Benson and Andre DiPaola tied for third. Brady Lusk took ninth in long jump.

Ripken LaMarsh placed second in the 800m. Alex Love took third in the 3200m and ninth in the 1600m. Sam Phipps took eighth in the 3200m and eleventh in the 1600m. Edward Tibert was sixth in the 3200m.Tevin Moore was third in the 110m hurdles, and Mark Ritterspuch was fifth in the 110m hurdles and sixth in the 300m hurdles. The Chesapeake boys finished seventh in the 4x100m relay, tenth in 4x200m relay, eighth in 4x400m relay, and fifth in 4x800m relay.

For the Northeast girls, Sierra Francheska placed seventh in the 400m and Generette Leona placed twelfth. In the 800m, Ally Grimm, Melanie Blake, and Layla Garner all had top-25 finishes. In the 110m hurdles, Alicca Stallings, Julia Loncyznski, and Maggie Kelly all had top-20 finishes. Stallings and Longcyznski also finished in the top 15 in the 300m hurdles. Roxsanna Brown finished fifteenth in long jump and fourteenth in triple jump, and Brittany Fremen took twelfth in triple jump. Amanda Reid finished fifth in discus. Rorie Lew placed took a top-10 finish in shot put and thirteenth in discus. Brianna Edwards also finished in the top 25 in shot put and discus.

The Northeast boys had several top-ten finishes, with Jake Sexton placing tenth in long jump and Marcus Dentley tenth in triple jump. Sexton also placed twelfth in triple jump, and Eric Gibbs placed seventeenth.

Travis Costa took fifth in shot put, with teammate Michael Harris placing seventh. Costa also took seventh in discus and Harris eleventh. Nick Morehead also had top-twenty finishes in shot put and discus.

Ryan Meta took fourteenth in the 100m, and teammate Devin McKinney also finished in the top 20. In the 200m McKinney took thirteenth and Meta nineteenth. In the 400m, Kevin Proctor and Treshawn Robinson both finished in the top 15. John Hobson had a top-20 finish in the 1600m, and in the 3200, Davis Skiratko, Jake Hearne, and Riley Flanagan all finished in the top 20. Ryan McGahagan finished in the top 15 in the 300m hurdles.

The Northeast boys took eighth in the 4x100m relay, eighth in the 4x200m relay, eleventh in the 4x400m relay, and eighth in the 4x800m relay.
