Earleigh Heights Carnival Returns For Summer Run

Come one, come all! The annual Earleigh Heights carnival is returning for its 10-day run this summer.

The carnival has been around for more than 70 of Earleigh Heights’ 100 years in service.

“It’s been a staple of the community for so long, and it’s grown over the years,” said Andrew Condor, president of Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company.

The carnival has grown from one week to 10 days, and it brings in roughly $3,000 each night, Condor said. The funds raised through the carnival will go toward building a new station, putting a new rescue squad in service and general operating costs, Condor said.

This year’s carnival is consistent with those in years past: it is still run by Jolly Shows and will feature many of the same rides. The popular rides Samurai, Street Fighter and the Ferris wheel will all be at the carnival, Condor said.

In addition to rides, there will be food and carnival games. Some of the featured games are shooting basketballs to win prizes and throwing a ping pong ball to win a goldfish. The ladies auxiliary will serve food, including pizza, chicken tenders, pit beef sandwiches and crab cakes.

The carnival runs from July 5-14 and is closed Sunday, July 8. It’s open from 6:00pm-11:00pm. Wristbands are $27 for all-you-can-ride. Discounts for the wristbands are available at many local businesses, Earleigh Heights Fire Station and at weekly bingo, which is held Wednesday nights at 5:00pm.
