Great Clips Aims For Convenience

Despite intense competition in the hairstyling business, Great Clips in Pasadena has positioned itself as a salon that offers affordable, high-quality haircuts in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Great Clips strives to accommodate its customers’ fast-paced lifestyles by providing extended hours, with appointments unnecessary.

“Our model is convenience and to offer a good haircut at a good price,” affirmed Mike Dashiell, who co-owns the salon with his wife, Ipun. “The whole focus is to try to keep it simple. It’s suited for people looking for convenience during their busy lives.”

The Pasadena location is the couple’s third salon since 2012. They also own and operate two other Great Clips sites, one in Harford County and the other in Howard County.

Ipun, who also is known to her friends as Yvonne, emigrated from Korea. She is a licensed cosmetologist and often works in the salons as a stylist.

The Dashiells purchased the Pasadena Great Clips salon from its previous owner, who originally opened the store in the late ‘90s. After the acquisition, the couple remodeled the store, upgrading it with the latest equipment and amenities.

As part of its commitment to ultimate convenience, Great Clips launched the industry’s first online check-in service, allowing customers to add their name to the wait list of a Great Clips salon before they arrive. Using the Great Clips downloadable app “guarantees your spot in line,” Mike said. The app also provides an approximate wait time so customers can time their arrival to when the stylist will be ready to start. Even without using the app, the goal is a wait time of less than 10 minutes, according to Mike.

Another unique benefit of Great Clips is its “Clip Notes” service. With Clip Notes, stylists make records of each customer’s service so the next stylist will know ahead of time what was previously performed. “It eliminates the need to have to go to same stylist,” Mike said. “And the records are kept for a long time.”

Great Clips caters to men, women and children. “We serve a lot of families and see a lot of father/son, mother/daughter combinations,” Mike added. Great Clips offers perms but does not offer hair coloring. It also offers discounts to active military and emergency personnel.

As an added bonus, this Veterans Day, November 11, the Pasadena Great Clips store will offer veterans a free haircut or a coupon for a future free haircut.

With customer convenience in mind, the store at 8573 Fort Smallwood Road is open seven days a week, from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm Saturday and 9:00am to 5:00pm Sunday. For more information, call 410-439-2445.
