The Havenwood 10U Fireballs capped a stellar spring season by finishing as league runners-up in the North County Community Girls Softball League.

The Fireballs finished with a 14-5 overall record and reached the championship game of the 10U division before falling to the SAC Lady Seminoles Black at Rock Creek Park on June 9.

The team of Haydan Aisquith, Hana Pierce, Brynn Jones, Laci Levesque, Lana Levesque, Athena Dyer, Teigan Kelly, Madison Bryant, Summer Parsley, Elizabeth Nicholls, Kylee Schultheis, Allison Zichos and Tori Licavoli went 10-3 during the regular season and won four playoff games in the double-elimination postseason tournament as the No. 4 seed, including a victory over the Havenwood Lady Savages in the loser’s bracket final and two previous victories over the Linthicum-Ferndale Purple Panthers. The Fireballs also knocked off the No. 2 seed BP Cyclones to advance to the semifinals. The team also lost an early-round nail-biter 8-7 against the undefeated and eventual champion SAC Lady Seminoles Black.

Pierce and Aisquith were noted as standout performers during the playoffs as both girls registered multiple hits and contributed with solid pitching.

Head coach Daniel Aisquith Jr. coached the Fireballs with assistant coaches John Jones, Angie Pierce and Rachel Levesque. Aisquith said the team made huge progress after a slow start and wound up contending for a championship and finishing proudly as runners-up.

“I am very proud of these girls,” said coach Aisquith. “We started off struggling pitching and hitting, but these girls never gave up to get us where we were playing for a trophy. The bats came alive and with key hits, and we kept on winning.”
