Havenwood’s best 12U softball players joined forces for three tournaments this summer and represented Pasadena in excellent fashion.

The All-Star team of Briana Burroughs, Danica Lease, Alexa Kozak, Chelsea Kratsas, Amaira Dyer, Jaynie Roldolf, Cynthia Rogers, Erin Rogers, Danielle Rohrback, Chloe Runco and Ariana Nicklas finished its summer with one tournament championship and an 11-3 overall record.

Havenwood placed first to claim the championship at the Swing for the Ring tournament in Howard County, clinching the title with an 11-3 win over Lutherville-Timonium.

In addition, the team was runner-up at the Mid-Summer Challenge in Howard County, falling to Frederick County 5-4 in the championship game; and they also placed third in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship in Pasadena with an 11-6 loss to Virginia Freedom in the semifinals.

Overall the team scored 114 runs in 14 games while only allowing 52 runs, rising to No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in Maryland in the United States Specialty Sports Association’s power rankings of 198 teams.

“Being an All-Star team, they only had about a month and a half together,” said assistant coach Jesse Burroughs, who led the team with head coach Darren Lease and assistant coaches Larry Rogers and Derrick Rohrback. “But, by the end, they played and bonded like they had been together for years. I am proud of these girls and I really look forward to seeing them apply what they have learned into their regular seasons. These girls truly deserved the success they had.”
