Lake Shore Seeks Sponsors

When the county appropriated more than half a million dollars for the Lake Shore Complex expansion, it opened up room for more than just baseball teams. Now, Lake Shore is looking to solicit more sponsors for the new billboards that will be lining the renovated fields.

Currently, 28 billboards are posted, but with the planned addition of seven more fields, the number of available spots will drastically increase beginning in 2011.
For $300 a year, advertisers can get a professionally crafted 4’ by 8’ aluminum billboard that will be displayed on an outfield boundary fence. Companies can also sponsor teams for $250 a year. According to Lake Shore Baseball directors, there are typically more than 50 teams in need of a sponsor each year.
Topping the list of dedicated sponsors are local businesses like Arundel Irrigation, Baxter Tire and Auto, Beltway Septic, Kent Island Crabs, Lauer’s Supermarket, Gable Signs and LakeShore Family Dental, who have each sponsored a team for more than 10 years. Last year, Glory Days stepped up to the plate and joined the ranks by sponsoring a whopping seven teams.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a team for the 2011 season should call Lisa Almendra at 410-598-0409. Those interested in billboard signage should call Wendy Cybert at 410-241-1750.
“Lake Shore baseball is the largest baseball organization in the area. It draws thousands of families to the complex each year,” said Cybert. “It’s a great advertising opportunity and a great way to support the local community,” she added.
The 2011 Lake Shore Baseball season kicks off with Opening Day on April 9.
