Lauer’s To Celebrate 40th Anniversary With Open House

Posted

In 1974, Ed and Helen Lauer had a vision when they purchased the Super Thrift grocery store at the intersection of Mountain and Tick Neck roads. It was then – 40 years ago – they decided to enact upon that vision of establishing a family-owned, community-based grocery store located in the heart of Pasadena.

In 1982 the Lauers decided to expand to a second store, and they purchased the Acme Supermarket in Riviera Beach. To replace the original store at Mountain and Tick Neck roads, the Lauers opened a new shop at the intersection of Mountain Road and Edwin Raynor Boulevard in 1988.

Today, Ed and Helen’s daughters, Bernie Snoops and Babbie Poyer, own and operate the supermarkets with that same vision in mind. Both stores give back to the community through two majorly influential programs – Lauer’s Learning Ladder, which allows all customers to select a local school to which a percent of their grocery purchase will go, and the Pasadena Business Association’s annual Caring & Sharing Community Harvest Parade, when Lauer’s donates thousands of dollars’ worth of food for the needy.

On Friday, March 7 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Chesterfield Plaza store and Saturday, March 8 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Riviera Beach store, Lauer’s will celebrate its 40th year in business with a Community Open House. The events will feature several prizes and giveaways – including a grocery shopping spree - as well as food, beverages and a special presentation of old photos and memorabilia.

For more information, contact the store at 410-255-0070 (Chesterfield Plaza) or 410-437-4800 (Riviera Beach).

Happy birthday, Lauer’s!
