Pasadena Senior Center Unveils Summer Programs

Pasadena Senior Activity Center, located at 4103 Mountain Road, has announced an array of exciting activities and events to keep seniors cool during the hot summer months. Registration is required to attend, for further information call 410-222-0030.

Father’s Day Breakfast

The Pasadena Senior Activity Center will serve a scrambled egg and sausage breakfast at 9:00am on June 20 at the center to celebrate Father’s Day. On the day of the event, you can check in at the front desk.

Stay Longer In Your Home

The Senior Center will present “Creative Solutions for Getting In, Out, and Around Your Home” at 10:30am on June 21. Stay At Home, an access resources company, will present ideas to assist older individuals and those with disabilities to stay longer in their own home.

Social Security

A “Social Security Education” program will be presented at 10:30am on June 22. Liz Maples, the public affairs specialist for Social Security, will educate members on current Social Security information including retirement benefits, survivors’ benefits, disability, and Medicare.

Buying a Car?

If you’re considering purchasing a new automobile, this is the program for you. “How to Effectively Negotiate a New Car Purchase” will be presented at 12:30pm on June 29. Mike Rabkin, president of “From Car to Finish,” will present information on how to navigate the entire purchase process, including how to choose, test drive, and negotiate for the vehicle, as well as how to navigate the after-sale items dealers will attempt to sell you.

Intro To Social Networking: Facebook

Do you want to learn how to communicate through the social network? Computer instructor Donna Shoemaker will host a two-day workshop on the popular social network site Facebook. Her program will teach the class how to set up an account and navigate the site. Participants must have a usable e-mail address with a password for the workshop, which is open for members not previously enrolled. Sign-up begins June 22 at the Pasadena Center. The workshops will take place from 10:00am until noon on July 13 and July 20 at the Center.

Crab Feast Bus Trip

Reservations are currently being taken for the “Crab Feast at Red Roost Inn” bus trip to Whitehaven on July 19. The $64 per person cost includes steamed crabs with other pre-chosen menu items, live entertainment, bus fare, driver tips, and a tour of the brewery. You must be a current member of the Pasadena Senior Center to attend. Call 410-222-0030 to become eligible for the trip.
