Pastor Price Journeys Home To Chesapeake Christian Center

David Price, Pastor of Chesapeake Christian Center in Pasadena, never expected he’d fulfill a career in the church.

“I was an entrepreneurial kid - always with a million ideas, a dreamer,” said Price. “For the longest time I saw myself as a businessman, maybe running a small business of my own.”

David Price was born at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and grew up in Hereford, MD. With four brothers and a father who was a minister, he wasn’t sure of his direction in life for many years. By the time David Price graduated from Rising Sun High School, he had made a decision to come to Christ, but where that decision might lead he wasn’t sure.

At age 19, David Price accepted the call of God to preach the gospel, and enrolled as a pastoral ministry student at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, in 1978. Lee University is a private, liberal arts university that has become one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in Tennessee.

“Lee University has a tremendous Ministerial Department that helped form and equip me during a very critical period of my life,” added Price. “And the friendships I made there continue to influence me, even to this day.”

Step-by-step David Price was being called down a familiar path. The bonds of service to the Church were stretching across generations to unite father and son.

At Lee University, Price studied theology and met the woman who would become his wife, Gail Price - also a native of Maryland.

“When God is pleased with a man he finds him a wonderful wife,” explained Price. “Gail triumphed over pancreatic cancer at the age of 29 and has devoted her life to preaching the Gospel across denominational boundaries.”

Today, the Price’s have come home to the Chesapeake Christian Center, located at 206 Weston Woods Drive in Pasadena. Since their arrival last January they have expanded their congregation from 170 people to an average of 270 for Sunday services.

David and Gail are committed to dedicated pastoral service. They have been married for 31 years, and have four children – David Jr., 25; Joshua, 23; and twins Stephanie and Kristin, 20. David Jr. is a Music Pastor for a 1500-member Assembly of God congregation in Florida, while Joshua has accepted a call to Youth Ministry and resides in Virginia. The Prices include three generations of family members who are dedicated and united through the bonds of Christian ministry.

“I also am very proud of our daughters, who are current students at Lee University and have both accepted the call to ministry, as well as our two daughters-in-law,” summarized Pastor David Price. “We are so pleased to be home in Maryland and have the wonderful opportunity to carry on the tradition of preaching the Word of God in some of the places my father did many years ago.”

The Church of God is a Pentecostal, Trinitarian denomination headquartered in Cleveland, TN.
