PBA Update

Posted

We honored our veterans at the seventh annual Veterans Day ceremony. This is one of my favorite events that the PBA does. In a very small way, it gives me the opportunity to show support and thank the men and women who did and do protect this country. Every veteran had the opportunity to stand and state their name along with when and where they served. This makes it very special for them and those of us in attendance.

We dedicated our two cannons that we recently added to the site, and we placed a memorial plaque in honor of Sam Kemp for his donation of the flag pole. Students from Pasadena, Bodkin and Jacobsville elementary schools wrote letters of thanks for the veterans. The letters were so cute to read, and the veterans were touched.

Mark your calendar and join us on November 11, 2018.

The flag is a project the PBA is proud to be a part of. We are putting up at least two flags a year at a cost of more than $500 each. We recently had to replace the pulley system in the flagpole, which is why the flag was not flying for several weeks. We are doing everything in our power to keep this flag flying, but sometimes it is beyond our control, so please be patient.

We are receiving calls from community associations and veterans asking if they can make a monetary donation. We would gladly accept donations made payable to PBA Flag Fund, PO Box 861, Pasadena, MD 21123-0861.

Christmas is just around the corner, so remember to shop local whenever possible. These local businesses support the community, so please support them. You can check the PBA Membership Directory and Community Guide or our website for goods and services needed. PBA members are ready to assist you. Happy holidays to everyone.
