PBA Update

Posted

The PBA education committee held the annual fifth-grade straight-A lunch with 77 students who qualified as of April. Students from Bodkin, Fort Smallwood, High Point, Jacobsville, Lake Shore, Pasadena, Riviera Beach, Solley and Sunset elementary schools and St. Jane Frances School were invited to a complimentary lunch at Two Rivers Steak & Fish House, with ice cream sandwiches provided by Bruster’s Real Ice Cream. C. Muhl Bus Service provided transportation for the event. Many thanks to the PBA members who also provided company logo items for goody bags that were given to students along with certificates of recognition. (Submitted by Jacqueline Kellum)

Our eighth annual Taste of Pasadena was an amazing night! The weather was not on our side, but everything else was. I have heard nothing but compliments for each vendor’s food offerings, and the presentations this year were the best by far. Each business stepped up and gave us an amazing evening, and they need to be commended. First and foremost, we thank all of our vendors: Angels Food Market; Beefalo Bob’s; Bruster’s Ice Cream; Cheshire Crab; Coco Couture; Edible Arrangements in Glen Burnie and Hanover; Glory Days Grill; Kurtz’s Beach; Lauer’s Supermarket; Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grille; Pats Select Pizza Grill; Roy Rogers; the Greene Turtle; and The Picantillo Restaurant. We did something different this year by awarding Best Presentation and the winner was Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grille. Congratulations to Rob Wecker and his staff. Upon entering, all of the attendees received a coupon book with lots of great deals, so let’s get out there and visit all of these establishments to thank them.

Special thanks also goes to:

·         Bonnie Dausch Kurtz, John Mason and the entire staff at Kurtz’s Beach for hosting again this year

·         Kim Wharton of Maher’s Florist for providing beautiful centerpieces that were given to attendees

·         Linda Loane of Pasadena Pawn & Gun for working the door

·         Pam Schuller of Cose Bella (Send out Cards) and Christine Richardson of Q Marketing & Design for contacting our vendors

·         Jerry Nicklow of Huff Insurance for being our announcer

·         Dick Parrish of Dick Parrish Designs, who was the DJ for the evening

We especially want to thank Ed Crystal and Christine Richardson of Q Marketing & Design for designing and donating the coupon books. As with any PBA event, thanks to PBA Executive Director Sandi Parrish for keeping everything organized, including me, Lisa Hart of Arundel Federal Savings Bank. Thanks again and remember to support your local businesses. I hope to see you all next year! (Submitted by Lisa Hart)

Don’t forget to save the date for the PBA’s annual crab feast. It will be held this year on Wednesday, July 12, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at Kurtz’s Beach. Food will be served from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, with crabs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
