PBA Update

Posted

What a beautiful time of year. We can all get out, shed the cabin fever and start our spring planting, yard preparation and recreation activities. We have PBA members for all of your needs, so check out our directory or our website to find what you are looking for. Remember that shopping local and using local professionals keeps the money in our community.

We are gearing up for our Taste of Pasadena event on April 25 at Kurtz’s Beach from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Come out and support the PBA and taste a variety of dishes from local restaurants. We will offer a coupon book for those in attendance. Tickets are available on our website, at Arundel Federal Savings Bank in Lakeshore Plaza, or at BB&T on Mountain Road. We are limited to 325 tickets, so don’t hesitate.

Lisa Hart, Taste of Pasadena chair, stated that this year’s vendors are going all-out to provide and present their very best - we will award the coveted title of Best Presentation to the business that best displays its offerings.

We welcome Roy Rogers to our group of participating restaurants, which includes Angel’s Food Market; Beefalo Bobs; Bella Napoli; Bruster’s Ice Cream; Cheshire Crab; Coco Couture; Compass Pointe Golf Courses; Edible Arrangements; Glory Days Grill; Kurtz’s Beach; Lauer’s Supermarkets; Mutiny Pirate Bar & Island Grille; Pats Select Pasadena; the Greene Turtle and the Picantillo Restaurant.

Here’s a sampling of this year’s menu items: beef brisket; homemade Old Bay chips; smoked pork barbecue sliders; coleslaw; pig roast; macaroni and cheese; baked beans; cream of crab soup; Maryland crab soup; crab balls; hot dogs and sausage; buffalo chicken dip and chips; crab bake; Greek salad; Cajun chicken skewers; Mexican rice; ahi tuna tacos; harvest goat cheese salad; Wally salad; chorizo corn chowder; chicken enchiladas; roast beef sliders; crab dip with pretzel bites; chocolate-covered fruit; ice cream; and chocolate crabs with Old Bay. Plus, you can take home a coupon booklet loaded with great savings from each vendor. Maher’s Florist will provide beautiful centerpieces again this year.

Our annual scholarship fundraiser was a great success. This fundraiser would not be possible without the support from our awesome PBA members and community that showed up and supported the event. We want to send a big thank you out to all of the following sponsors for the event. Platinum: Huff Insurance and St. John Properties. Gold: Anne Arundel Community College Foundation, BB&T and Free State Photo Booth. Silver: Anderson Davis & Associates, CPA, PA ; Arundel Federal Savings Bank; Edward Jones - Brian M. Conrad, CFP; Moscker Insurance Agency; Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce. Bronze: Ace Hardware & Hearth, Bruster's Ice Cream of Glen Burnie, Friends of Downs Park, Gunther Refuse Service, Lloyd's of Pennsylvania, and Oakley Construction.

Kurtz’s Beach and its staff always make the evening fun with great food. The band, Guys in Thin Ties, was a big hit with the crowd. We need to thank all of the businesses that donated items and services to our silent auction. The silent auction is a big part of our fundraiser, and your donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of those who helped make this event successful.
