Rob Smelser Has Forged Lifetime Ties At Brown's Honda

Coffee is for closers, but lifelong relationships with customers are for salesmen who know how to deliver value. With that said, Rob Smelser has been a sales manager at Brown’s Honda in Glen Burnie for the past 25 years.


“To be successful in this business you have to be there for your customers every day,” explained Smelser, who graduated from Northeast High School and currently resides in Pasadena with his wife Kathy and two children, Christopher and Lauren, both graduates of Chesapeake High School. “You have to be a resource offering information and direction on how clients can be supported as lifelong Honda owners.”
Of course, it helps that the Honda CRV is America’s hottest-selling Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), and that the Accord has been voted one of the Top 10 best sedans in America for the past 20 years. In the compact class, the Honda Civic has been voted by Kelley Blue Book’s as the best of breed.
“My wife just purchased another Honda from Rob Smelser this month and is thrilled with her new CRV,” said Tim Dailey of Pasadena. “There were no surprises… The entire purchase process went exactly as she was told. I guarantee we will continue to buy our vehicles from Brown’s Honda in Glen Burnie.”
As for Smelser, he is known for logging long hours and for his willingness to accommodate the busy schedules of his clients, sometimes meeting with them hours before the dealership opens. When it comes to service, Smelser is head and shoulders above the rest. He often personally picks up a client’s car in their driveway, leaving his Honda Pilot for them to drive until he returns with their vehicle the next day – now that’s service.
“My husband and I have purchased several cars from Rob Smelser at Brown’s,” added Karen Rains of Pasadena. “As a salesman, Rob is knowledgeable and always delivers the finest service. Whenever you call it seems like he’s always there to pick up the phone.”
Howard and Jill Reed of Pasadena have been purchasing Honda’s from Rob Smelser since 1991. Their first car was a CRX SI and their latest was a Honda Odyssey in 2008. In total, they have purchased eight cars over the last 20 years with Rob Smelser guiding them through every step of the process.
“Over the years, we have always come back to Brown’s Honda and Rob,” added Howard Reed. “We buy our cars here and have them serviced here. Every department is courteous, professional and friendly.” For him personally, there’s nothing more satisfying than making a client smile at Christmas when he rolls up to their doorstep with a brand new Honda wrapped in an enormous red ribbon.
The affable Smelser concluded, “I can accommodate all your automobile requirements… just come on in and see me!”
