When Chesapeake girls basketball team defeated Arundel 70-31 on January 3, highlights were plenty. Brooke Worrell led all scorers with 28 points to go with 14 rebounds and 5 steals. The Cougars’ Corrine Castle (11 points, 11 rebounds), Ashley Chew (8 points, 5 steals) and Summer Smith (5 steals, 3 assists) all had strong games in support.
But it was Haley Downin's play to end the third quarter that provided the highlight of the night. Downin grabbed a rebound with a few seconds remaining, took a few dribbles and launched a 60-footer down the court:
The bank was open. Downin finished with 18 points, 4 steals and 3 assists in the win.
The Cougars travel to Northeast on January 5 for a rivalry showdown against the Eagles.
