Mutiny, Baltimore Kings Clash In Soccer Match

Posted

Cinco De Mayo was the perfect night for sports as the Pasadena Soccer Club U19 boys team, Mutiny, took on the Pro Soccer Alliance Baltimore Kings in what turned out to be a nail-biter. The Kings prevailed 5-4.

The first 40 minutes were a defensive battle between the two teams with Eric Valdovinos coming up with some big saves, and Mutiny's defense, led by Mason Wicks and Garrett Dibenio in the center, directing their back line to keep the pros scoreless. After 40 minutes of back-and-forth scoreless action between two teams, Caleb Adams broke open the scoring frenzy with an assist by Bradley Sprit just before halftime.

To start the second half, the Kings remained calm on kickoff and maintained possession. They were able to maintain it for just three minutes before Brayden Jimmerson picked off a pass and drove to the net to give Mutiny a 2-0 lead. The Kings wouldn't go down easy, though, and fought back when Tolu Balogun gave the Kings their first goal of the night. Shortly after, Erik Espinoza scored again to set the score at 2-2.

Mutiny then scored two more. Jimmerson earned his brace with an assist from Sprit. Sprit then found the back of the net off a deflected shot by Mutiny to give Mutiny a 4-2 lead until the 72nd minute when Balogun put the visitors back in the scoring column. Just 10 minutes later, the pros tied it up again at 4-4 with a goal by Erik Espinoza with only seven minutes remaining.

The Kings proved to be too much and put in their first go-ahead goal off of a free kick taken by Alex Stewart with about 60 seconds remaining in regulation.

Mutiny players and coaches would like to thank the following sponsors: Elite Remodeling, W.L. Staton, and Green Trees Tree Services. The team also thanked fans who came out to support local soccer, and The Baltimore Kings for the opportunity to compete.

The Greene Turtle of Pasadena and Kona Ice supported Mutiny with fun giveaways and frozen treats. Pasadena Soccer Club supporting Mutiny’s vision and promoting the game.

“Mostly, we'd like to thank the parents of the players who have, without waiver, toted their kids and all their equipment across county and state lines to compete in games, tournaments, ID camps and showcases over the years,” said Mutiny coach Kori Gorham. “It's been a wild and amazing ride.”
