Severna Park Scouts Tidy Up Historic Pasadena Farm

Posted

Scouts from Troop 855 in Severna Park came to Historic Hancock’s Resolution in Pasadena on October 5 to tidy up the farm’s reforestation area. Protective caging around young native trees and shrubs damaged by downed trees from multiple weather events needed to be shored up, or when beyond salvage, removed. Approximately 10 scouts and six parents tackled the job and greatly enhanced the appearance of the area. During a water and donut break, Master Gardener and Hancock’s Resolution volunteer Nancy Allred led the scouts on an abbreviated farm tour of the historic buildings, gardens and graveyard.

Hancock’s Resolution, an 18th century historic site, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail. Friends of Hancock’s Resolution (FOHR) currently operates the park April through October. FOHR looks forward to the construction of the visitor center/barn, which, when completed in spring 2020, will allow for expanded programs and exhibits throughout the year. Site preparation has already begun and construction will occur in the next few months. Project workdays can be scheduled for individual volunteers and volunteer organizations.
