Student-Athletes Adopt Pets During Quarantine

Posted

Pet adoptions have occurred at a slower pace due to the coronavirus pandemic, but some pets have found loving homes.

From left to right, Georgia Spangler (Chesapeake), Avery Sesney (Chesapeake), Bree Stalnaker (Archbishop Spalding), Shelby Bumgarner (Spalding) and Lily Grant (Spalding) have all adopted dogs since the quarantine began. The girls were Lake Shore field hockey teammates and CYLA teammates growing up. All five are committed to play either lacrosse or field hockey in college: Spangler lacrosse at George Mason, Sesney lacrosse at McDaniel, Stalnaker lacrosse at Virginia Commonwealth University, Bumgarner field hockey at Duke and Grant lacrosse at Maryland. The dogs from left to right are Finn (Spangler), Dottie and Dani (Sesney), Charlotte (Stalnaker), Winnie (Bumgarner) and Moose (Grant).
