Arundel Federal Launches Annual Holiday Toy Drive

Posted

Arundel Federal Savings Bank kicked off its 22nd annual holiday toy drive on November 4 and will continue that effort through December 10. All five Maryland branch locations are accepting new, unwrapped toy donations for distribution to less fortunate children.

The toy drive is open to all: customers, employees and everyone in the community who wishes to donate. Collection boxes are in the lobbies of all five branches: Severna Park, Annapolis, Brooklyn, Glen Burnie and Pasadena. The Severna Park branch is located at 50 West McKinsey Road.

“There’s nothing better to help celebrate the holidays and uplift spirits than to be in a position to give back and put smiles on hundreds of children’s faces this holiday season,” said Tom Herpel, president and CEO of Arundel Federal. “This is our 22nd year hosting the Arundel Federal Savings Bank annual toy drive, and I am always amazed at the outpouring of generosity. All donations will benefit local, deserving children and their families. Thank you to our customers, communities, and employees for their willingness to help provide brightness and cheer to those who need it most this holiday season.”

This year’s donations will be distributed through the following organizations:

South Baltimore Network, Baltimore

South Baltimore Network began in early 2013, with the goal to improve South Baltimore, Maryland. South Baltimore consists of many neighborhoods, ranging widely in population, socioeconomic status, race and age. South Baltimore Network strives to help these residents by bringing many of the nonprofits who target South Baltimore together.

Through fundraising, financial assistance and training, the South Baltimore Network aids other local nonprofits to help them better serve those they seek to help. The toys are distributed to the local low-income communities of Curtis Bay, Brooklyn and Cherry Hill.

SOFO (South Forest Drive corridor), Annapolis

The SOFO HoHo Toy Drive is for underprivileged students in the SOFO corridor. The 2024 SOFO HoHo is in its ninth season of collecting presents to spread the Christmas spirit to elementary students in need. SOFO gives the option for cash donations, and a small team of SOFO elves will whisk around and purchase the toys for the students.

Happy Helpers for The Homeless

An all-volunteer organization meeting the needs of the Glen Burnie and Baltimore City communities for 31 years through feeding, clothing, supporting and serving the homeless. Its mission is to provide food, toiletries and clothing with compassion and a smile; to spread the belief that if all those who are able get involved, the human tragedy of homelessness will be solved.
