Charlie Phelps Turns 106

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, only one in 30,000 U.S. residents was age 106 or older at that time. No doubt, the numbers are often changing, but it’s a rare club. West Severna Park resident Charlie Phelps is expected to be the newest member, with his birthday tomorrow. He celebrated the milestone on Saturday with his daughters Charlotte, Lilia and Carol, and with his son, Charlie Jr.

A World War II veteran and 62-year resident of Severna Park, the elder Phelps attributed his longevity to nutrition and staying active when he was last interviewed by the Severna Park Voice in 2020.
