After three straight state girls soccer championships, the expectations at Severna Park have settled at sky-high.
These young Falcons, though, are finding their way as the midway point of the 2026 season nears.
Their lengthy win streak, and their four-season string of victories over Broadneck, are both gone, but that is the only blemish on the season as Severna Park sits at 3-1 with eight regular-season games to play.
They opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Winters Mill on goals by Delaney Jones and Eva Jones. But then came a 4-0 loss against Broadneck, snapping a string of victories over the Bruins that had dated back to the 2022 regular season and ending their 30-game win streak overall. The four goals were the most Severna Park has conceded since 2019.
The passages of play and the tempo were similar, but with so many new parts playing a championship contender in the first pair of games was always going to be a challenge.
Despite the setback, the Falcons got back to work and dispatched Severn Run 4-1 and South River 3-1 to right the ship ahead of this week’s measuring-stick game against Crofton.
