With four consecutive victories, the 9U Green Hornets Green baseball team won the Severna Park Pennant in the Park Tournament to wrap up their spring season over the weekend of June 22-23. The Hornets Green team beat the 5 Star Southern Maryland 9U team 13-0 in the finals.

In the championship game, Connor Karsner pitched a complete game no-hitter, striking out seven players over three innings before the mercy rule came into play to end the game. Drew Dougherty went 2-2 in the game with a double and a single, helping the Green Hornets put up what would eventually amount to 13 runs. Holden Rothenbecker singled in the bottom of the third inning to drive in the walk-off winning RBI.

With the victory on Sunday, the team finished their spring season 22-15. Bryan Karsner served as head coach and Mike Terhune, Nick Drecchio and Jeff Rothenbecker were assistant coaches for the team.

“The coaches and I are so proud to be able to coach this great group of boys,” Bryan Karsner said. “As a team, we experienced plenty of ups and downs throughout the season, but to end things on a high note is very fitting. These boys worked hard all year, learned from their mistakes, and developed into a great baseball team. All that hard work and dedication came together last weekend, and the result was a well-deserved championship on our home turf.”
