La Fontaine Bleue Owner Transforms Glen Burnie Venue Into Bleue’s On The Water

Having worked in the bridal industry for 46 years, Tom Stuehler knows what components make up the perfect wedding venue. When he first discovered the vacant Altoona Beach banquet hall, located off Nabbs Creek Road, he couldn’t believe his eyes. “It’s one of the most beautiful venues in Maryland – and I’ve been to them all,” he said.

For the last several months, Stuehler and his team at La Fontaine Bleue have been working to transform the gated waterfront property into a lavish, all-encompassing venue for weddings, holiday parties, birthday celebrations and other gatherings.

“We brought in over $25,000 worth of plants, installed new lighting equipment, and right now we’re working on the ballroom,” explained Steuhler. “There’s such a market for this right now. Here in Anne Arundel County, people want to have their events take place at a waterfront venue. The great part about this is that we can cater to any type of wedding or other event.”

Indeed, Stuehler noted that there are different areas on the grounds that can accommodate any style of wedding. “For brides looking for a more rustic-themed wedding, we have our outdoor pavilion area. The great part is that we can even bring in heaters to accommodate cooler weather,” said Stuehler.

There’s also a large pier that extends into Stoney Creek, and Stuehler added that the dock is spacious enough to hold a wedding ceremony. “This would be perfect for a nautical-themed wedding,” he said. “It’s even possible for the wedding parties to have a boat drop them off onsite if they prefer.”

Then there are the garden areas. “This area is called the Holly Terrace,” Stuehler said as he pointed to a large and robust holly tree that overlooks the water. The area is complete with a wedding ceremony site, sitting benches for cocktail hour and plenty of space for hors d'oeuvre stations. Just around the corner, there’s another ceremony site that Stuehler calls the Magnolia Terrace because of the massive magnolia tree that sits by the water.

Inside, there’s the banquet hall that can hold up to 400 guests. The space includes large, wall-to-wall windows overlooking the water, a special designated area for the DJ or band, and a bar area. And, in case of inclement weather, there’s enough space inside the ballroom to hold the wedding ceremony. “What’s so great about this venue is that we can easily take care of any weather situation,” Stuehler proclaimed.

“What I’ve found over the years is that brides want a beautiful waterfront setting that includes exotic gardens, wildlife and sailboats at a venue that offers total privacy and exclusiveness. This property has all of that and more,” said Stuehler. “There’s no reason to book a wedding anywhere else.”

Bleue’s On The Water is located at 7696 Altoona Beach Road in Glen Burnie. To schedule a tour of the venue, call 410-760-4115 or visit www.bleuesonthewater.com.
