Rain didn’t stop 365 participants and nearly 100 volunteers from turning out for the 10th annual Stefanie Ashdown Memorial “Do Your Best” 5K and 1 Mile Walk at Anne Arundel Community College on September 13.

The event is hosted by Stef Ripple, a nonprofit formed in memory of Severna Park native Stefanie Ashdown, who died of ovarian cancer.

September’s event was also held in memory of Katie Filling, a devoted member of the Stef Ripple community. Filling attended every race and met Ashdown while both were undergoing chemotherapy. This year’s race honored her life while continuing the ripple of hope, compassion and support that she and Ashdown embodied.

The “Do Your Best” 5K generated nearly $45,000 in funds that will help Stef Ripple continue to support ovarian cancer patients and their families. Next year’s event is slated for September 12, 2027. Learn more at www.stefripple.org.
